The Department of Economics at the University of Toronto is pleased to announce a number of administrative appointments that went into effect on July 1, 2024.
The professors who take on these positions help students and other faculty members to navigate curriculum, program, and course-level operations that are outside the immediate responsibilities of professors as course instructors or teaching assistants.
At the St. George campus, Professor Michael Baker, the new Associate Chair of Undergraduate Programs was joined by Professors Joseph Steinberg and Adonis Yatchew.
Professor Steinberg is the new Teaching Assignment Coordinator at the Department of Economics. In this role he will support the planning of course offerings, course staffing, and enrollment management.
Professor Yatchew is now the Undergraduate Students Liaison, another new role. He will deal with allegations of student academic misconduct brought forward by instructors, as well as allegations of breach of university policy and/or other concerns and complaints concerning course instructors brought forward by undergraduate students.
When Professor Colin Stewart became the new Associate Chair of Graduate Programs, he vacated the position of PhD placement officer. That role now belongs to Professor Yuanyuan Wan.
There are also new administrative appointments affecting economics at the University of Toronto, Mississauga.
Professor Ronald Wolthoff is now in the position of Interim Chair at UTM. At UofT since 2010, Professor Wolthoff joined the department after a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago. He completed his PhD at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
UTM’s new Associate Chair is Professor Eduardo Souza-Rodrigues. In the position he will focus on curriculum design and governance, course planning, and enrolment management.
