The Department of Economics is pleased to welcome Jessica Shi. Shi is the newest instructional support assistant to join the undergraduate program team and is very familiar with test and exam administration at the University of Toronto. She is a former teaching assistant for ECO333, Urban Economics, and convocated with her master’s in economics last June.
“Coming to work here is like coming home,” Shi said. “This is a great working environment and everyone here is very friendly and helpful.”
Shi’s appointment went into effect on 7 October, just in time for the mid-term rush. Her prior knowledge of the department and its operations have helped her adapt to her new role and team very quickly.
“Being able to help professors, TAs, and students is the most important part of this job to me,” she explained. “I liked being able to jump in and start learning by doing on the very first day. I still have a lot to learn here, and lots of new connections to make, but seeing familiar faculty members and students makes it easier. Johnny, Sally and Daphne are also great mentors, so it’s the best time to start and under the best conditions possible.”
Shi can be found at Max Gluskin House in office 164.
